Height vs. Heart

The smallest NBA player was Tyrone Curtis "Muggsy" Bogues. His height was 5 ft 3 in and he played and He played for four teams on his fourteen years of career in NBA. He's a proof that there's nothing impossible as long as you work hard and you put your heart on what you're doing. For the short baller's out there, you still have a chance.











Big Rapper                                                                 


Shaquille O'neal had a rap hit. It was the song "What's Up Doc". But it's also interesting to know that he started to compose rap songs in 1993. What a talented big guy.

Pau Gasol went to Medical School. He dropped out off Medical School to pursue his NBA dreams.

Boston Celtics holds the record for the most championship won in NBA. They are number one on the list with 17 championships, followed by Los Angeles Lakers with 16.

Kobe Bryant's  middle name was 'Bean'. It was probably from his father Joe 'Jellybean' Bryant.

BRIEF HISTORY OF BASKETBALL

Basketball Was Invented

Basketball was invented by a Canadian doctor named James Naismith. The game was founded in 1891, and was used to condition football players during the winter. The first ball and basket was a soccer style ball and a peach basket. Naismith created 13 rules for the new game and the first game was consisted of two teams of nine players per team.The objective of the game was to throw the ball to the basket. Someone proposed to call the game "Naismith Game" but Naismith suggested to call it "Basketball" since they have a ball and a basket.

Widespread of Basketball 


It was the YMCA that had a major role in spreading basketball throughout the world. The US army brought basketball wherever they go during the world war I. The first professional league was founded in 1898 and six teams took part in the league, but by 1904 the league was abandoned. The first college basketball game was played on  April 8, 1893, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. 
NBA was founded in New York city on June 6, 1946 and its original name was Basketball Association of America(BAA), and the name was changed to National Basketball League (NBA) on 1949 after BAA merged with its rival NBL ( National Basketball League). It became the most significant basketball league in US during the 21st Century.
